Neighborhood Yoga Teacher Training
2024-25
240-Hour Yoga Alliance
Certification Program
This will be an in person trainin.
Participants will explore methods of cultivating their personal practice, and from that space, experience the gift of sharing yoga with others. You do not have to be a teacher, nor even desire to become a teacher to attend NYTT. This training will set up a foundation of inquiry and support your personal evolution by giving you the tools to live yoga as a creative, authentic, moment-by-moment lifelong practice. Through tradition, reflection, experiential learning and intention, we will help you find your own authentic voice, and path on this journey. Through self-inquiry and group discussion, we uncover together the meaning of traditional yoga texts, and how this timeless philosophy relates to daily living.
NYTT is a 9-month program meeting one weekend a month (20 hours per weekend) September 2024 through May 2025. With an emphasis on Vinyasa or Flow Yoga, we will also explore many styles of yoga which support the foundation of a vinyasa practice, including, Iynegar, Ashtanga, and Anusara, as well as introduce the principles of yoga for special populations.

Requirements
A minimum of one year of yoga practice and a dedicated home practice is required. NYTT is open to those that want to teach and those that want to deepen their practice and knowledge of Self. There is no particular level of asana required, only a deep commitment to the discipline and practice of yoga, and an openness to new ideas. To ensure the program and community will resonate with your needs, we do require that each applicant has attended a minimum of 4 classes at Neighborhood Yoga by the Sept 1st deadline, and at least one of those with the director of NYTT, Valerie Midgett. If you’re commuting from a distance, it may be possible to make other arrangements upon request.
Non Teaching Option
Neighborhood Yoga is offering this training to individuals who wish to deepen their practice of asana, philosophy, energetics, pranayama and meditation, as well as study some of the classic yogic texts, but may not necessarily be interested in teaching yoga. Attendance is still mandatory and some of of class assignments required for continuity and understanding of the material on a deeper level. There is a cost reduction of $150 and a certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of the program for the number of hours dedicated to advanced studies and training in yoga.
Scholarship and Work Study Application
Neighborhood Yoga offers a limited number of partial scholarships based on both need and potential. Work/Study opportunities are also available. Applications for these will be due by August 28, 2024. Download Scholarship Application.

Attendance
Full attendance for all weekends is essential to understanding the progressive manner of the material. It is strongly advised that you make arrangements to attend ALL sessions. Make up hours are both difficult and expensive. If you need to miss a weekend or a day, arrangements should be made prior to that date. It is your responsibility to obtain any missed material, through additional workshops, classes, or private sessions. Options for making up missed material will be discussed on an individual basis. Financial responsibility for make up hours is the responsibility of the participant, which may require the hourly rate for private sessions. We strongly encourage you to read and understand this attendance policy. Yoga Alliance requires completion of 180 contact hours with primary faculty from the training program.
